For the inaugural event in Chisenhale Gallery's 21st Century programme artists Manuela Gernedel and Morag Keil will present an evening of film and performance. The space will be decorated especially for the night, incorporating objects by Marlie Mul and Yngve Holen, with accompanying text by John Harrington. The evening includes films by Elizabeth Go, Ilja Karilampi and Anna McCarthy, a speech by Hank Schmidt i.d. Beek and a performance from Cara Tolmie.
The event starts at 7pm.
Morag Keil and Manuela Gernedel studied at Glasgow School of Art and are now based in London. They recently participated in 84 Paintings with Fiona Mackay at Wiels, Brussels (2009); Concrete Gallery website and exhibition at Wilkinson London (2009); and Panorama at the Jail, Glasgow (2004). They recently launched ourtv at Lothringer 13 Staedtische Kunsthalle, Munich (2009). They also work independently; Morag has recently made an online publication for XYM.nl and has exhibited at the Caribic and Neue Alte Brucke, Frankfurt (both 2009); Manuela participated in Mermaids vs. Unicorns at i20 Gallery, NYC, and Purpeling at Gimpel Fils, London (both 2009).
