Artists, art professionals and cultural entrepreneurs talk about the routes they’ve taken into their careers and how they make it work. Organised in partnership with Art Licks Weekend 2014.
Kiera Blakey, freelance curator and director at Legion TV, a not-for-profit space she co-founded in Hackney in 2012. Funded by the Arts Council England, recent projects and exhibitions at Legion TV include Adham Faramawy, Hannah Black, Yuri Pattison and Julia Crabtree and William Evans; and collaborations with the New Museum, New York and Almanac, London. As a freelance curator she has recently worked with Samara Scott and Johann Arens at Letchworth Garden City and Tom Keeley at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She writes regularly for This is Tomorrow.
Andrea Francke was born in Peru and is based in London. She has a BA and a MPhil in Fine Arts from UNICAMP (Brazil) and a PgDip and MA in Fine Arts at Chelsea College of Arts and Design. She was a recipient of the Red Mansion Art Prize (2011), a Communal Knowledge resident at The Showroom gallery in London (2012), artist in residency at CCA Derry - Londonderry (2013), an associate at Open East School (2014) and a member of AND Publishing (2014). Peckham Print Studio is a multi-functional water based screen printing studio in South East London. The studio was set up in 2012 by post graduates Hugh Barrell and Nathan Bryant with the aim to provide a space for practitioners alike to explore the screen printing process, and continues to develop a comprehensive fabrication service for fine art and illustration.
