Saturday 8 August, 12 – 2pm
Artist Elisavet Kalpaxi leads a workshop for families to create photograms, unique photographs made without cameras. Participants will learn how to expose and develop prints in the darkroom and at the end of the workshop all prints can be taken home.
A photogram is an imprint of objects on a light-sensitive base (usually paper). The principle of creating direct prints using diverse processes and light sources predates the invention of photography.
The workshop is programmed in response to Nicholas Mangan's exhibition Ancient Lights.
All materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring transparent objects or objects with interesting outlines that could be used for your own compositions.
For: Children over the age of 4 and adults. Please note: children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult.
Programmed in collaboration with Chisenhale Art Place.
This event is free to attend but places are strictly limited and booking is essential. To reserve a place please visit our Eventbrite page here.
