Thank you to everyone who joined us for the early morning viewing of Hannah Black’s exhibition, Some Context, at Chisenhale Gallery, with an introduction to the work by Emma Moore, Offsite and Education Curator. Coffee and cakes were generously provided by the East End Women’s Institute. Images are from the event.

Please join us on Thursday 19 October 7pm for a conversation between Larne Abse Gogarty, art historian and critic, and Hannah Proctor, cultural historian and theorist, who have recently collaborated on a text titled Communist Feelings. This event is free to attend but booking is recommended. To reserve a place please visit our Eventbrite page here. Hannah Black’s exhibition events have been devised in collaboration with the artist, and include a series of conversations in which participants have been invited to discuss a situation of their choice. For more information on all events, please click here.

Please also join us Friday 20 to Sunday 22 October, for The Chisenhale Art Place Open Weekend organised in collaboration with our neighbours Chisenhale Dance Space and Chisenhale Studios and including open studios, tours, exhibitions and workshops. At Chisenhale Gallery, you can attend a screening of new short film commissions from the second year of the Stop Play Record programme (2016 -17) on Saturday 21 October, 2pm. The screening includes works by Raheela Suleman and Korallia Stergides, who recently produced new films with Chisenhale Gallery, and is followed by a discussion with the filmmakers. This event is part of Playback Touring Exhibition, which brings together 200 short films made by young artist filmmakers and tours the country until March 2018. Playback is funded by Arts Council England and is a joint initiative with Channel 4 Random Acts.

We would like to congratulate Chisenhale programme alumni Camille Henrot for her ‘Carte blanche’ exhibition at Palais de Tokyo, Paris, opening to the public later this week. The exhibition includes an installation of The Pale Fox, Henrot’s 2014 commission at Chisenhale Gallery. We would also like to congratulate recent programme alumni Alex Baczysnki-Jenkins, Maeve Brennan and Luke Willis Thompson and forthcoming programme participant Lydia Ourahmane for being shortlisted for the 25th Anniversary Arts Foundation fellowship awards.
