We are pleased to announce Chisenhale Gallery’s commissions programme for 2019, comprising four exhibitions by Ghislaine Leung, Mandy El-Sayegh, Ima-Abasi Okon and Sidsel Meineche Hansen.

We are also pleased to announce a major new film commission with Imran Perretta, co-commissioned with Spike Island, Bristol, and the Whitworth, The University of Manchester to be presented at the partner venues across 2019-20.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for Caoimhín Mac Giolla Léith’s gallery tour of Lydia Ourahmane’s new exhibition, The you in us at Chisenhale Gallery. Please join us on Thursday 1 March, 7pm for an introduction to Ourahmane’s exhibition by Ellen Greig, Curator: Commissions at Chisenhale Gallery, which will be followed by a listening event with artist Hiba Ismail. On Saturday 3 March, 2pm The Soundhoppers will lead a workshop for families exploring deep listening and the different properties of sound through play, using a range of soundboxes and games. This workshop is suitable for children aged 5 – 11 years, and it is free to attend but booking is recommended. To reserve a place please visit our Eventbrite page here.    

Programme alumni with recent openings include James Richards at Chapter Art, Wales, where the artist will present his Chisenhale Gallery commission Not Blacking Out, Just Turning The Lights Off (2011) amongst other recent works; as well as Amalia Pica at Herald St / Museum St, London; and Lubaina Himid at the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library, Preston, opening on Thursday.
