Thank you to everyone who came to Mariana Castillo Deball's 'in conversation' with Professor Chris Godson last week. We enjoyed hearing about the biography of objects, artworks as traps and debating the role of the artist as anthropologist. You can listen to a recording of Mariana and Chris' discussion on our website here.
Join us this week for our next 21st Century event with James Bridle and Lauren Houlton, on Thursday 27 June at 7pm. Co-editor of Universe Magazine, Lauren Houlton has invited artist, writer and technologist, James Bridle, to discuss the potential relationship between the New Materialist notion of ‘Thing Power’ and the increasing appearance of the visual language of digital technology in the physical world. The event is now fully booked. We'll do our best to accommodate everyone but we can't guarantee a place for those who haven't booked. Mariana Castillo Deball's exhibition will be open until 9pm.
Book now for performances of a new play by Edward Thomasson, with music by Soosan Lolavar, developed as part of his Chisenhale Gallery Create Residency. Tomasson's play, Between You And Me, looks at how stories are told, modified and retold in order to process the events we experience around us. Developed with, and performed by, a group of non-professional actors from East London, the play will be presented at The Glass House Community Centre, a mid 1950s community centre in the Parkview Estate on Old Ford Road on Saturday 6th July at 3.30, 5.30 and 7.30pm. This event is free but booking is strongly advised. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make a reservation.
