Bonnie Camplin Limited Edition Print

Bonnie Camplin is a London-based artist whose drawings, watercolours, films and performances reveal her preoccupation with rituals, social traditions and the detritus of popular culture. For Chisenhale Gallery Camplin has created a new screen print based on a found image from a classic matchbox cover.

When the Wind Blows Up You was produced in conjunction with her eponymous performance commission at Chisenhale Gallery in July 2009. Camplin’s performance transformed the gallery into an immersive, multi-sensory environment, in which she used the motif of electric light as a ‘metaphor for energy expressed at the glitter of society’s putrescence’.

Bonnie Camplin lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions include Michael Benevento, Los Angeles (2012); Stone Tapes, Galerie Cinzia Friedlaender, Berlin (2011) and Railway Mania, Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art (2010). Recent projects include When the Wind Blows Up You, Chisenhale Gallery, London (2009); Usher We (Down There), Tate Modern, London and the 2nd Turin Triennial (both 2008). Her latest project is How to refuse work altogether (2013), commissioned by How to work together, a shared commissioning and research project organised by Chisenhale Gallery, The Showroom and Studio Voltaire. She is currently a mentor for the Lux Associates Artist Programme, and a visiting lecturer at Goldsmiths College, London.
