Thank you to everyone who visited an exhibition of new artworks by Mitful Islam, Jilad Miah and Zakir Khan, exploring ideas of identity and shared experience, presented in our studio space last week. The works were produced as part of a series of workshops lead by forthcoming programme participant Imran Perretta, and delivered in collaboration with the Mile End Community Project, an organisation specialising in youth engagement via film and media, and Jawaab, a grassroots organisation working with young Muslims in the UK. ⠀
Please join us this Thursday 16 May, 9-10.30am for an early morning viewing of Cite Your Sources with an introduction by Layla Gatens, Curatorial Assistant: Engagement. Other exhibition events this week include a zine-making and drawing workshop in response to Mandy El Sayegh’s new commission lead by Grrrl Zine Fair for children aged 8-11 on Saturday 18 May 2pm. Jia-Yu Corti, who performed in Alex Baczynski-Jenkins’ 2017 Chisenhale Gallery commission, The tremble, the symptom, the swell and the hole together, presents SNAKES at Chisenhale Dance Space on Friday 17th May at 7.30pm in collaboration with Owen Ridley-DeMonick.
