Frances Scholz & Mark von Schlegell

A screening of Starlite (2011-12), an episodic film made by artist Frances Scholz and based on a fantasy story by writer Mark von Schlegell. Originally commissioned to coincide with a series of exhibitions by the artist Cosima von Bonin, these Starlite episodes will be screened together for the first time and followed by a discussion with Scholz and von Schlegell.

Frances Scholz (born 1962, Washington DC) lives and works in Cologne. Recent exhibitions include Dystopia, CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux (2011); Un…Sharpness of the Documentary, Kunstleverein Malkasten, Dusseldorf (2010); and Rom Report, Badischer Kunstverein, Karlsruhe (2008). Scholz is Professor of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig.

Mark von Schlegell (born 1967, New York) is a writer and critic based in Cologne. His novels Mercury Station (2009) and Venusia (2005) are published by Semiotext(e).
