Throughout 2019 – 2021, Chisenhale Gallery is working in partnership with The Institute of Contemporary Arts, BBC Arts and Arts Council England to present a new commissioning opportunity for young people titled New Creatives.
New Creatives is a series of commissioning opportunities for emerging artists aged 16 - 30 years who work with audio or moving image.
This newly launched initiative provides the opportunity for young people, based in London, to produce new work with the support of industry professionals. Chisenhale Gallery is one of six production partners including the ICA, Kingston School of Art, NTS, SPACE, Dazed Media and Werkflow. Over two years Chisenhale Gallery will work with four artists, providing mentoring and support to develop new commissions from initial idea through to final work.
Successful applicants will be invited to present their work in a dedicated showcase at the ICA and their work may also be selected to be broadcast on television and radio under BBC Introducing Arts, made available on BBC iPlayer or BBC Sounds.
Young people, aged between 16 – 30 years and based in London, are encouraged to submit proposals for moving image and audio works, which explore new formats of storytelling, performance, spoken word, poetry, dance, scripted drama. No prior experience is required to apply; the only criteria is that candidates are based in London and aged between 16–30 years at the time of applying.
Our first Open Call closed on 17 March 2019 – thank you to everyone who submitted an application. Selected participants can expect a response by early April.
Our next Open Call will be in June 2019. Dates will be announced on the ICA Website here.
