Stop Play Record was a three-year programme (2015-18) for young people aged between 16 - 24 years, interested in making experimental short films. Selected from an annual open call, filmmakers worked with a range of professionals working with moving image to conceive and produce short films between 90 seconds and 3 minutes long.
Between 2015 - 2018, Chisenhale Gallery commissioned new short films with filmmakers Ayo Akingbade and William Glass (2015 -16), Korallia Stergides and Raheela Suleman (2016 -17), Anita Safowaa and Wajahat Hussain (2017 -18).
A screening of the films produced by Chisenhale Gallery as part of the programme, featuring works by Ayo Akingbade, William Glass, Raheela Suleman, Korallia Stergides, Anita Safowaa and Wajahat Hussain, took place at Genesis Cinema in November 2018.
Stop Play Record formed part of a joint initiative between Arts Council England and Channel 4, which saw the Institute of Contemporary Arts lead a London Network in partnership with Bloomberg New Contemporaries, Chisenhale Gallery, DAZED, Kingston University and SPACE.
